More than 3,500 people are involved in hundreds of projects nationwide. They help conserve our heritage for future generations by stewarding, cataloguing, conserving books, textiles, armour and weaponry in historic houses, libraries and museums.

  • Romsey DFAS - Sorting and documenting collections at King John's House, Romsey. 
  • Solent DFAS on the 'About Us' page of this website there is a photograph of two dresses displayed at Uppark House.  Six members of Solent DFAS undertook their production as an Heritage Volunteers project. The project took over a year to complete.   Book Conservers - This volunteer group, was established in 1986 and now numbers 14 members. After training in conservation techniques, this group meets once a month to clean and repair books in the Historic Collections Library at The Institute of Naval Medicine, Alverstoke. The Library, originally housed at The Royal Naval Hospital Haslar, now includes the historic collections from the Royal Naval Hospitals at Plymouth and Chatham.  As well as books of medical interest with detailed anatomical drawings, the Historic Collection includes books with beautiful illustrations of flowers and birds.
